Top 6 changes to Dynamics Ideas Portal that will make life easier for customers, partners and MS

1 - Filter and search

Microsoft AppSource has recently made some great improvements. Two key ones are the ability to search faceted filters and also to constrain search by the currently selected filters.

2 - Better status management

Add the ability to tag reasons for a declined status. Was it declined as it was implemented elsewhere, duplicate, outside of product strategy. It would be better to exclude declined status by default from all searches.

3 - Support manual and automated linkage of ideas

It is clear that there are many ideas that are related to each other, or duplicated of each other. At the moment there is no way for Microsoft, other customers or partners to identify that ideas should be merged (for more votes), rely on each other or are just make sense being considered together.

One would expect with all of Microsoft investment in search and document intelligence that they could eat some of their own secret sauce to better automatically mine and find relationships between the ideas.

4 - Increase the density of information

The ideas site currently appears to be completely unresponsive in its design. A very narrow column for ideas with a lot of wasted space on infrequently used components of information. The team needs to take inspiration from ideas sites. No giant inline comments thanks and its okay to use smaller text.

5 - For gods sakes provide rich text and video

It is absolutely shocking that in 2021 Microsoft provides a 'crappy' textbox and plain text form for submitted ideas. There is no other word for it. I have no doubt that customers want to post images, animated gift, videos, links to blogs and other styling to help communicate what they are trying to achieve. One hopes they overcompensating by not only fixing this but adding a behind the scenes API allowing all their product team to allow ideas to be directly captured from within the product.
